“Kaloketing in Western Jebel Marra and Northern Kass area -South Darfur, Hosts Thousands of Displaced People Amid Basic Service Challenges”

Kaloketing area in Western Jebel Marra, located approximately 33 kilometers north of Kass in South Darfur, is considered one of the region’s key agricultural and economic areas. In recent years, it has witnessed a significant influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs) fleeing conflict and insecurity in various parts of the region.

According to a report by the Kaloketing Camp Administration, the combined population of local residents and displaced people living in the camp is estimated at around 38,000. Many of them are facing difficult humanitarian conditions and growing challenges in accessing essential services.
Both host community members and displaced families suffer from inadequate basic services, including water supply, healthcare, and education.

The shortage of these vital services has increased daily hardships and highlights the need for greater intervention by government authorities and humanitarian organizations to address the rising needs of the population.

Kaloketing remains one of the areas receiving large numbers of displaced families, placing additional pressure on already limited local resources and services. The area is under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed al-Nur.

As the influx of displaced people continues, local communities are looking for increased support to improve humanitarian conditions and strengthen opportunities for stability and development.
