“Dobo, South of Tawila Area: A Haven for the Displaced Amid Humanitarian Challenges”

The Dobo area, located south of Tawila, lies within the eastern range of Jebel Marra Region, south of the Mertal area. It is approximately 47 kilometers from Tawila. According to reports from the Humanitarian Affairs office belonging to the Civil Authority, the population is estimated at around 2,500 households, or roughly 15,000 people. The area is under the control of the Sudan Liberation Army movement led by Abdu Alwaid Noor

The area is distinguished by its rich geographical landscape, featuring dense forests, valleys, and plains, in addition to fertile agricultural land suitable for cultivating a variety of crops. The soil ranges from clay to sandy types, which supports agricultural activity—one of the main sources of income for residents, alongside livestock herding and trade, particularly in vegetable production.

In recent times, Dobo has received large numbers of displaced people fleeing the war, which has further strained the already limited resources and services. In this context, a displaced woman named Manal spoke to “Sudan Sawa Sawa” about her suffering after fleeing from the city of El Fasher, where she endured harsh conditions during her journey of displacement.

Manal, a 28-year-old mother of five, is currently living under difficult humanitarian conditions. Her family suffers from poverty and a severe shortage of water and food. She explains that her children are sometimes forced to beg in the streets of the area in search of something to eat, which is still not enough to meet their daily needs.

At the end of her account, Manal issued an urgent appeal to humanitarian organizations and relevant authorities to intervene and provide the necessary support to save her life and the lives of her children, and to improve the conditions of displaced people in the area.
