“Students in Tawila area, North Darfur, have appealed to the relevant authorities to organize the Sudanese Certificate examinations locally despite the ongoing conflict.”

Male and female students from Tawila Secondary School said the current security and economic situation has prevented them from reaching designated exam centers. They stressed the urgent need to hold the exams within the Tawila area to ensure they do not miss this critical stage of their education.

Speaking to Sudan Sawa Sawa, a student, Hiba Mohamed, explained that they had initially been living in the Zamzam IDPs camp in El Fasher following the outbreak of the April 15 conflict, before relocating to Tawila. She noted that they now face significant challenges, including deteriorating living conditions and the high cost of transportation, both of which severely restrict their movement.

Despite the harsh realities of war, the students reaffirmed their determination to continue their education. They emphasized their commitment to sitting for the Sudanese Certificate exams as a crucial step toward securing their future.

The students called on educational authorities and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene by establishing examination centers within their area. They said this would safeguard their right to education and ease the burden caused by displacement and exceptional circumstances.

They expressed hope that their appeal would receive a swift response, reflecting greater attention to education in conflict-affected regions and supporting their resilience in the face of ongoing challenges.
