“Tawila Mubdioun (Creatives): Culture Inspires Hope and Revives April 6 Values in the Heart of Displacement”
April 7, 2026
In a scene reflecting the strength of community and its ability to transform suffering into positive energy, the city of Tawila in North Darfur witnessed remarkable engagement yesterday, April 6, as residents commemorated the anniversary of April 6 through a cultural event organized by the “Mubdioun” (Creatives) group, in collaboration with the “Samar Al-Layl Center for Creativity and Arts.”
The “Mubdioun” group includes a distinguished collective of artists, poets, and writers. It was established amid the displacement conditions that followed the events of April 15, providing a space for creative expression and strengthening social cohesion. The event carried profound messages calling for peace and reinforcing the values of coexistence among the diverse components of society.
The Samar Al-Layl Center for Creativity and Arts, based in Tawila, works to support the cultural needs of displaced communities while also offering psychosocial programs aimed at alleviating the effects of war and contributing to a more stable and cohesive environment.
Speaking to Sudan Sawa Sawa, Mr. Tariq Al-Hameidi, Director of the Center, stated that these initiatives stem from a firm belief in the role of the arts as an effective means of addressing the psychological and social impacts of conflict and promoting a culture of peace. He added that the center hosts an integrated ensemble featuring traditional dance, a national choir, and theatrical performances, along with a dedicated platform for “Poets of Peace,” all contributing to raising positive awareness and reinforcing coexistence.
Al-Hameidi emphasized that culture is not merely a means of expression but a fundamental pillar in building peace. He noted that poetry and the arts reflect the pulse of society and its aspirations, especially in light of current challenges. He called on creatives to direct their work toward promoting human values and rejecting hate speech, highlighting the genuine power of the arts to influence collective consciousness and foster shared awareness.
In a related context, he pointed out that Sudan’s cultural and social diversity represents a real opportunity to strengthen unity if harnessed through inclusive discourse that focuses on common ground and avoids sources of division.
The commemoration of April 6 in displacement areas also reflects citizens’ resilience, their commitment to hope, and their determination to preserve the values championed by the revolution despite ongoing challenges.
Al-Hameidi concluded with a sincere call to leaders, decision-makers, and all segments of society to act with a shared sense of responsibility, reject violence, and listen to the voice of reason, as the most effective path toward achieving peace, stability, and a better future for Sudan.
